I am considering taking the 17P ..?

I am considering taking the 17P suppository (to prevent preterm labor, my first was born 2 months early) since my Dr. recommended it. I am wondering though if there are side effects for the baby? I have heard that the med is a female hormone and may effect the baby if it is a boy and you don't really know what they are developing at that time. Does anyone know of any reports or studies that is done on this?
